The Blackbird Inn

The Blackbird Inn dates back to 1773 and is a rustic traditional country inn with a bar / restaurant menu, specials board, open wood fireplaces in the bar and relaxed seating area and lawned garden and decking area for outside dining and is perfect to watch the sun go down in the warmer months.

There are also 6 full en suite rooms, consisting of 4 king rooms,1 twin and a very cosy double, all with extremely comfy mattresses. The Blackbird Inn is well located near Wellington, on the A38, within a short drive from the M5, perfect for breaking up your journey to or from the west country.  We are under a mile from the lovely town of Wellington and 4.5 miles from Taunton and less than an hours drive from the seaside towns and villages South and North Somerset. Exmoor National Park is on our doorstep.

The Blackbird Inn is all about providing a relaxed, comfortable and enjoyable time during your stay in beautiful Somerset. The inn has a country traditional atmosphere, extensive open beams, brass fittings and wood burning fireplaces. The bar is very well stocked with many local real ales, local ciders, stouts, bitters & lagers, with a comprehensive wine list of wines from around the world. We offer an extensive range of soft and hot drinks. We are known for our excellent restaurant food quality - where we prepare and cook all our own food - we have on offer a traditional pub / restaurant menu with all the classics as well as a superb specials board which allows us to show-case some of the fabulous local ingredients on offer, season by season.  View our menu here.

Wellington has a long history first recorded in 899, then known as Weolingtun, which means "wealthy estate". A royal charter of 1215 gave Wellington its status as a town, and during the medieval period it grew as a centre for trade on the road from Bristol to Exeter. Wellington gave its name to the first Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley and nearby Wellington Hill boasts a large, spotlit obelisk to his honour, the Wellington Monument. In a County of wide open spaces, steeped in culture and history, there are just so many things to do in Somerset you will find yourself spoilt for choice.. Somerset is perhaps best known for its attractions, days out, carnivals and festivals such as the world famous event at Glastonbury. The County is rich in wildlife and ranks among the UK’s top places.
